Watching the MOSH mobile Facebook application has inspired me to learn more about the Facebook platform and make something of my own.

Last night I started reading up on the Facebook platform and today I am proud to present my first and simple Facebook application.

I’m a big fan of the Colbert Report and Stephen Colbert. So why not celebrate that with an application that selects a random Colbert quote and displays it each time a profile is loaded.

While reading up on the platform I noticed that a lot of people force users when adding an application to invite friends and then sends them notifications to add the application.

This is something I opted not to do.

Simply put forcing people to invite others to your application creates what I call “invite spam”.

It is this spam that makes people ignore legit app invitations.

I log in to Facebook and always have ten or more invitiations to install an application simply because the person who installed it was FORCED to send invites to friends to use the application.

That sort of spam turns people off to applications and makes them tune out legit requests in the future.

I won’t contribute to that problem.
